New malware on Android that is "almost impossible" to remove

Today, thanks to our colleagues from Android Authority we have learned that the Lookout mobile security application has discovered a new type of adware (a program that automatically shows web advertising to the user during its installation or during its use to generate profit for its authors) that Root the device once the user installs it , and then camouflages it on your terminal as a system application.

Adware features
By turning itself into an application of the system, it becomes totally invulnerable to any attempted removal by the user . If you are among the unlucky ones who have suffered this adware , do not waste time performing a factory reset , since camouflaging between system applications will remain intact.

This is a new and sophisticated version of the typical adware that normally tends to make itself completely unbearable by presenting new ads to the user continuously. Since this type of malware has root access , it does not need to constantly harass the user , and the worst part is that most users will not even know that they have been affected.

Some affected applications
Lookout, one of the most recommended security applications for Android , discovered not long ago that this family of Trojans is hiding inside the code of applications such as Candy Crush, Google Now, Facebook, Twitter or Facebook , and these are just some examples of the more than 20,000 applications that have been infected. In spite of everything, the infected versions of these applications are not directly available from the Google Play Store , but are downloaded through third-party stores such as Aptoide or Blackmart.

Possible consequences of adware
Lookout warns that in situations in which this adware is embedded in your system, the possibilities of removing it are almost impossible and the best solution is to acquire a terminal. Personally I think that the option proposed by Lookout is somewhat excessive , although adware with this type of potential is obviously a great security risk.

Typically, applications are not usually given access to files created by other applications , but by perpetrating root , malware exceeds this protection, which could expose infected devices to fraud and theft of important personal data .

At the moment we know that Lookout has identified three versions of this Trojan: Shuanet, Kemoge and GhostPush . These adware families have different designers but share 77% of their code , which means that if those responsible for their creation do not work together, at least they know each other. The highest infection rates are occurring in countries such as the United States, Germany, Iran, India, Jamaica and Russia, among others .

Should I panic?

No way . Although the situation may seem extremely dangerous, in reality, the probability that you will be affected by a Trojan with these characteristics is quite low . As we mentioned earlier, the applications that are infected are those that can be found in third-party stores , so if you continue to go to official sites to download your applications you should not have any problems.
